Miss Steffan's Classroom

Miss Steffan's Classroom

My name is Maddie Steffan and this is my first year teaching! I am so excited to gets started with your students here at Mohawk! In 2014, I graduated from Leipsic High School and furthered my education in Columbus at The Ohio State University. I earned my B.S.Ed. in Early Childhood Education and am licensed to teach PreK-3rd grade. I'm currently living in Findlay, and will be getting married this June!

In Our Classroom, we are...

Welcome December! We are introducing a new set of sight words: List 4.
Guided reading is in full swing. Students will get new books about once a week. Please continue to read with your child each night. It is SUPER important that they are pointing to each word as they read it.
Math: We've introduced Rocket Math! Students brought home flashcards to practice fluently knowing those simple math facts. Each Friday we are taking a timed test. Students earn a star on their classroom rocket ship when they are able to finish the test in under a minute and get each answer correct. We are also working on writing each number the correct way and being able to recognize numbers up to 20.
Science: We will be taking our Chapter 2 Science test next week. This chapter was all about solving problems and figuring out different ways to do so. The next unit will be on Living and Nonliving things, which we have briefly talked about already. They're super excited!
Social Studies: We'll explore the National Anthem and talk about why this song is so important to our country.
What we will be learning:

Each student has set a goal for what they want to accomplish on this test and I know that each and every one of them are more than capable of doing so. :)
