Michelle Yarger

Welcome to first grade!

Welcome to first grade!

Hi! My name is Michelle Yarger and I am your child’s new 1st grade teacher.  This is my 17th year of teaching.  10 of those years were spent teaching in North Carolina. I am from Tiffin and graduated from Columbian High School and Bowling Green State University. I got my master’s degree from Elon University in North Carolina.  My husband and I have 4 children. Samantha-10, Tyler- 6, Claire-2, and Nolan-1.  Tyler and Samantha are in 1st and 5th grade here at Mohawk.  Our family expanded by 8 paws over the summer when we adopted two kittens from the Humane Society.  Their names are Butters and Ruby.  In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, being outside (especially the lake), and going to concerts/listening to music.

Even though this year will be like no other, it's still going to be a great year!  I look forward to having fun, learning new things,  and getting to know your child!

Please email me at michelle.yarger@mohawklocal.org, message me on Remind, or call the school ext: 1121 if you have any questions or need anything!

Important Information/Reminders

Important Information/Reminders

- Homework is given on Monday and is due on Friday!
•Login information for I-Ready was taped into the front cover of your child’s Safari Binder.  The goal is for students to have at least 60 minutes in both reading and math by the end of the week.  We work on it everyday in class. Students also have cards where they track lessons passed.  For every 8 they pass they get a prize from me. :-)
•Pizza Hut Book-It program starts October 1st.  The log sheet is in your child’s Safari Binder.  Your child can get a free pizza coupon each month they complete it.  Pizza party at the end of the year for those that do every month!
•It is getting cooler.  Please make sure your child has cooler weather gear.
•All needed passwords for accounts will be placed in your child’s safari binder.  This will be especially important if we do have to go remote!   Please practice logging into all these accounts (especially SeeSaw) and let me know if there are any issues!
•Please check with your child to see if they are running low on snacks so they aren’t left without one.
•Our winter I-Ready diagnostic will be next Wednesday and Thursday!  I am excited to see how much the students are progressing to their year end goals!
•First grade won the penny wars for the Sycamore Food Pantry.  We get a pizza treat Friday at the end of the day.  This is NOT replacing lunch.  Way to go!
•From 1/11-/2/11 First grade is having a Math I-Ready battle to see which classroom can pass the most lessons!  Winning class will get a treat! Good luck!
