First, due to the changing landscape of reopening schools during the COVID-19 pandemic, Mohawk Local Schools will be delaying the start of school from August 20th to August 31st. The delayed start will allow our staff members time to receive additional professional development in preparation for providing online instruction and training on district cleaning and safety procedures/expectations. Again, all students' first day of school will be Monday, August 31, 2020. This will include incoming kindergarten students, with their screening still to be completed on August 21st and 24th.
Secondly, I would like to thank all of our families who have completed the School Restart/Reopening Survey. Your feedback has helped our leadership team in making decisions on student class assignments and setting transportation routes. If you or your family have not had a chance to complete the survey, we respectfully ask you to complete the survey on or before Friday, August 7, 2020. The survey link can be found on our website.
We are asking all families to complete their child’s forms and update any family information in Final Forms. Families can access their child’s Final Forms portal on the District website.
Lastly, we wanted to inform our families that Mohawk Local Schools will be following the Ohio Public Health Advisory System’s COVID-19 County Alert Levels. If Wyandot County becomes alert level red or purple, due to COVID-19 cases, Mohawk Schools will be moved to remote learning for all students. Additional details will be shared before the start of school, but we wanted each family to know that the Wyandot County’s alert levels will impact Mohawk’s ability to hold traditional (face to face) instruction. When Wyandot’s alert level is yellow or orange, Mohawk Schools will be offering face to face instruction for all families who selected option 1.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding during this difficult time.
