School Restart Update - August 14th
Dear Parents and Students,

We are only a couple weeks away from the start of school, and whether your family selected our face-to-face educational option or option two remote/online learning, we are excited to welcome all students back to school.

To assist our staff in preparation for the school year, we are requesting the return of school owned computers and chargers. Beginning Tuesday, August 18th through Wednesday, August 26th from 8:00am-3:00pm, families may drop off school-provided chrome books and chargers. Our staff will update the computers and have them ready for students for the 2020-2021 school year. Students who are unable to return his/her chrome book and changer until the first day of school may see a delay in getting his/her chrome book returned for use. We appreciate families who are able to drop off chrome books prior to the start of school. This request is also for students who choose option 2: online/remote learning. Remote learners will receive a call once their computers have been updated and ready for the school year.

I want to make a correction to a statement I made during our last Board of Education meeting. Students in preschool through grade 6 will remain in their homeroom classes during the school day, when necessary, teachers will switch rooms. Elementary students will receive lunch, specials, and recess outside of their homeroom. Students in grades 7-12 will move from class to class throughout the day. Switching classrooms is necessary due to the nature of courses taught and teacher licensure.

We have received several questions concerning masks. Please know that masks are mandatory in grades K-12. We are currently working with the local county health department to find times and locations within the school day when students may remove their masks. Mask “breaks” may differ between locations, age levels, room configuration, and other factors that may not allow social distancing.

The district will provide additional information to families and students in the coming days. Information will be sent through email, phone calls, and/or social media posts.

An All Call will go out this evening.

Thank you and have a great weekend,

Mark E. Burke Jr
