Dear Students, Parents, Community, and Staff,

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year at Mohawk Local Schools.  We are excited for the opportunities that await in the coming school year.  Over the summer we have been busy reflecting on the successes of last school year and developing plans to continue to improve upon an already great school district.

Last school year we saw accomplishments in all of our programs from the classroom, our FFA program, the arts, and the field of competition.  All of this happens because of the support of our students.  An exciting data point for the district is that we have a 94% student participation rate in activities beyond the classroom.  This is an extraordinary number and we will continue to work to increase this number.  This also represents the great pride that all of our stakeholders in the district have and demonstrate on a daily basis. Participation and support are key in providing high quality opportunities for student growth and development preparing our students to be leaders in whatever their futures hold.

Another accomplishment last school year was the creation of our Portrait of a Warrior.  This is a set of skills that we want all students to be able to demonstrate daily at school and after their time at Mohawk.  These skills will also guide our work as a district as we look at programs and opportunities that we provide our students.  As we go through the year we want these skills to become a visible part of our district initiatives through classroom instruction and activities, our PBIS initiative, and our interactions with one another daily.

Over the summer there have also been many exciting projects that have been implemented or are being planned for the upcoming school year.  These projects range from solar panels being installed on the roof and sidewalk repairs in front of the school and the MCI building.  Planning is ongoing for three other substantial projects for the district: bringing a softball field to the main campus, expanding and updating our upper elementary playground, and creating a STEAM lab for more hands-on learning opportunities for our students district wide.  We will provide updates as they become available throughout the year.

We are looking forward to welcoming you all back as we start another exciting school year. Together we will prepare today’s students for tomorrow’s challenges.

The Mohawk Board of Education has established a strategic plan with four areas of emphasis.

  1. Student Achievement and Instructional Excellence
Whether students are continuing their education in pursuit of a specific vocation, college intending, or moving into the workforce, it is our primary mission to prepare students for success.
  2. Communication and Community Engagement
We inform our community of the great things happening at Mohawk.   We seek community input when considering policy revisions. We communicate through multiple platforms including web, social media, automated alerts, and traditional print materials.
  3. Fiscal Stewardship
We operate with complete financial transparency and are committed to good stewardship of taxpayer dollars. We maintain and improve our facilities to improve efficient and effective operations now and in the future. We plan and save for inevitable and costly maintenance needs such as roof replacement and paving. We established a rainy day fund to insure financial stability. Finally, we operate with a balanced budget.
  4. Safety and Security
We develop and revise district and building safety plans annually. We conduct and document all safety drills as mandated by Ohio Law. We have implemented technologies and protocols for dealing with an active shooter situation. We drill with area first responders in preparation for an active shooter situation and have put in place technologies to help prevent or minimize casualties in the event of such.

Our board meetings are  public meetings and community members are always welcome. If you have questions or concerns you’d like to  discuss, please don’t hesitate to call. Thank you for the opportunity to serve the students of Mohawk School District.
