Mohawk Local School District News Article

District Communication 2/16/2024

To Parents, Staff, Faculty, Students, and Community Members,

Pursuant to the Ohio Revised Code (ORC) section 3313.482, the Mohawk Local School Board and the Mohawk Education Association hereby authorizes the use of up to three (3) remote days for any calamity day for the remainder of the 2023/2024 school year. This allows students of the district to access and complete classroom lessons in order to fulfill up to a maximum number of hours.

These days can ONLY be used for calamity days and not for planned absences.

The remote day plans will be posted on our district website and the faculty’s Google Classroom platforms. The calamity day plan for remote days will be made available for students to access online or as paper copy lessons. If the teacher is utilizing a paper lesson, it will be sent home with the student the day the students return.

Mohawk Local School District teachers will be available through their school email on remote learning days during normal school hours (8:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M.) or if a two-hour delay was used on that day, (10:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M.) As per ORC, students will be granted two weeks from the date of reopening to complete the remote learning lessons. Mohawk Local Schools will provide access to computers in our buildings before, during, or after school in order for the students to complete any online assignment during those two weeks. Students that were given paper copies for remote lessons will also have two weeks to complete the lesson from the date of reopening.
